Background
I am an individual with over 30 years in the Information Technology Industry. My focus has been with Data Center systems and architecture, with a specialty in hardware and software virtualization for large enterprise deployment, management, and maintenance.
Part of my journey was to go to client sites to deploy various technological components. This would include documenting designs and providing a build book to aid in training and troubleshooting. The engagements would also include a 3 to 5 days on-site training seminar where I would train the organization’s IT personnel on the various technologies that I architected and deployed.
Instructional Design and Training Delivery Services
Through the several years of on-the-job training that I provided to coworkers and clients, I naturally gravitated to Learning Theory, which included the principles of educational design and delivery.
I soon used specialized software to create training that ranged from MS Office to enterprise class server and network management tools. My training journey started in 2002 with eHelp’s RoboDemo 3.0 (which is now Adobe Captivate Prime.) I would create simulations of MS Office XP on up. This started as ad-hoc training for people that needed to know how to do something.
Later, I would use those skills to provide product training at EarthLink in 2003. This was interactive simulation-based training with on-site training delivery. My thanks go out to the development team for allowing me to provide large-scale training to a live audience.
In 2011, I left the world of IT Consulting to create and teach my certification courses on VMware Enterprise Virtualization products. I could teach these courses to a global audience several times a week. I dug deeper into Instructional Design Theory and best practices.
Fast forward to today. I have several hundred courses published within corporate environments and small businesses across the world. I have expert level experience in the top course development tools and LMS platforms. I am well versed in interactive training development, delivery, and reporting.
Education
I have a Master of Fine Arts degree in English Creative Writing and I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English with a concentration in writing and communications. I’m also a member of the Association of Talent Develpment (ATD – td.org)
I love teaching people and expanding their opportunities for growth and development. In fact, you may even find me teaching classes at a nearby college.
